Audio Story Assignment (Final):

One in 8 million assignment:

I watched two of the audio slideshows: “The Type ‘A’ Teenager,” and “The Only Child.”  I chose to analyze these as I can deeply relate to both, and I am avidly involved in various organizations on campus and hold several responsibilities and roles (sometimes, I wonder if it’s too much, as does the young lady in the slideshow). I am also an only child, therefore, I can somewhat relate to the story of the young man in the latter slideshow.

In the first slideshow, the reporter may have asked Omika how she felt being such an intensely involved student and not having the typical life of a standard 15-year-old girl.

In the case of Joshua, the only child, the reporter may have asked him how he felt being an only child and if he ever dreamed of having a sibling.

“The Type ‘A’ Teenager” was quite enjoyable as there was nt a wide array of natural sound, but the message was still strongly conveyed through the photographs and also through the reporter asking the right questions to make for an interesting and engaging response from the subject.

“The Only Child” piece was also enjoyable as the photographs that were used came in a variety of compositions. There were close-ups of the young man which showed his emotions while speaking of intense subjects within his parents’ relationship, and also there was a motion-blur photo of him standing in front of a moving train. These photographs helped elevate the quality and believability of the audio story.
